We’re Amy, Luca, and Eain, and together we make up the Under-Secretary-General Team for Community Building. Our job focuses on outreach, so includes anything that makes Oxford Global more accessible for you guys. We’re responsible for writing and uploading the weekly blog posts, as well as creating resources to be used during our international conferences. We also, along with the rest of the Secretariat, facilitate the running of the OxfordMUN 2025 Home Conference in November.
May International Updates
Hello Delegates!
A fundamental part of being a representative at the United Nations (and, thus, at a MUN Conference) is an awareness of global events. Given that the theme of OxfordMUN 2025 is ‘The Spirit of Inquiry’, we think it is important to stay inquisitive about international news. From May, we will discuss three articles, with related questions to allow you to inquire about what is going on worldwide.

March International Updates
Hello delegates!
A fundamental part of being a representative at the United Nations (and, thus, at a MUN Conference) is an awareness of global events. Given that the theme of OxfordMUN 2025 is ‘The Spirit of Inquiry’, we think it is important to stay inquisitive about international news. For March, we have three articles discussed below with some links and related questions to allow you to inquire about what is going on worldwide.
Introduction to Model United Nations
Imagine a room packed with passionate students from across the globe, each representing a different nation with unique pasts and priorities, discussing, debating, and drafting together to find solutions to the world’s most pressing issues. This is fundamentally what Model United Nations (or MUN for short) is about.
OxfordMUN 2025: Embracing the ‘Spirit of Inquiry’
What is the Spirit of Inquiry?
At its core, diplomacy isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about asking the right questions. The spirit of inquiry is what drives us to challenge assumptions, seek out diverse perspectives, and engage in meaningful dialogue to find solutions that truly last.
This year, as we gather for OxfordMUN 2025, we invite delegates to step into this mindset — one of curiosity, critical thinking, and open-minded exploration.
OxfordMUN 2024: Meet Your Chairs!
Now that the conference is fast approaching, we thought we’d introduce you to your chairpersons! Each committee will have one Main Chair, one or two Co-Chairs, and potentially an Assistant Director as well. The Main Chair will be your main point of contact and will be leading the Dais - here’s a few details about all of them, so you can get to know them a little bit better before the conference!
Countdown to OxMUN, your final checklist!
Things we wish we knew before our first MUN conference!
Participating in your first Model UN conference at OxfordMUN can be an exhilarating experience, but at times it may appear to be overwhelming. Having gone through the experience ourselves, I have compiled a short list of things that I wish I knew before stepping into the committee room for the first time. If you are a first-time delegate or a delegate looking to refresh your skills, this blog may help you navigate the Model UN experience!
OxfordMUN 2024: FAQs and Essential Tips for Delegates
Dressing for Diplomacy: Our Guide to MUN Attire
At Oxford Global, we take dress code very seriously. It might seem frivolous but how you dress is how you present yourself to the world and to each other, and a smart outfit is a sign of respect towards your peers and towards the conference. Our Chairs and Secretariat will be in their best dress, so we expect you to be too!
Hogwarts MUN? Here is Where Our Conference Will be Held!
Jan Chan, Executive Advisor
The OxfordMUN 2024 Home Conference is happening in just a month! If you’re joining us, or even visiting Oxford for the first time, you must be excited about debating global issues in historic buildings with stunning architecture. In this blog post, we’ll introduce you to the spectacular venues hosting this year’s conference.
Examination Schools
The Examination Schools, a striking Victorian building located on Oxford’s High Street, is where most debates will take place. Designed by Sir Thomas Jackson in 1876, it has served as the central examination venue for Oxford University students. (Yes, we actually sit our exams here!) Its grand, high-ceilinged rooms offer a perfect setting for intense debates. Rooms are allocated according to committee size, but we guarantee that all of them are equally impressive!
Town Hall
We are proud to host our opening and closing ceremonies, as well as one of our Delegate Socials, at the glamorous Oxford Town Hall. A masterpiece of Victorian Gothic Revival architecture, the Town Hall was completed in 1897 and remains a symbol of civic city pride. Its grand hall, with its magnificent stained-glass windows, offers a breathtaking atmosphere for our ceremonies.
Natural History Museum
The equally glamorous - but arguably more extraordinary - location for our second Delegate Social is the Natural History Museum. Known for its stunning neo-Gothic design, this 19th-century museum houses collections of zoological, entomological, and geological specimens. Both its exhibits and glass roof make it a unique piece of architecture, making it the perfect backdrop for a memorable evening of socialising and networking.
Trinity College, Oxford
If you sign up for our Midnight Committee Session, you’ll have the opportunity to visit Trinity College, one of the 39 constituent colleges of the University of Oxford. Founded in 1555, Trinity College is known for its beautiful quadrangles, historic buildings, and tranquil gardens. The college’s timeless gardens are sure to make the Midnight Committee Session a unique experience.
Things that only happen at MUNs
As MUNers, what helps us make friends and build bonds is not only the exciting weekend of conference spent together, but also MUN-exclusive activities that help incite common memories. Whether you are a first-time delegate looking to read about what to expect at MUNs, or just someone seeking some fun MUN nostalgia, this is the blog post for you!
