NOVICENATIONS 2027
February 12–14
NoviceNations is a conference for delegates of all levels, from beginner to advanced. The difference is that NoviceNations is focused on improvement and skill acquisition alongside healthy competition, rather than simply being a competitive event like our November GlobalVoices conference. Held every February in the city of Oxford, NoviceNations is designed to make MUN accessible, welcoming, and purposeful, supporting delegates as they build confidence, strengthen their committee skills, and take the next step in their MUN journey.
For many students, NoviceNations is their first experience of MUN. For others, it is an opportunity to move beyond the basics, become more active in debate, and prepare for more advanced conferences. NoviceNations is focused on up-skilling delegates and supporting them to grow, whether you’re already advanced and aiming to become an award-winning delegate, or a beginner looking to move to intermediate level. Delegates are supported to progress from their current level and step into the next stage of debate and diplomacy.
We do this by offering supportive committees, interactive workshops, and practical conference activities, where delegates develop skills in public speaking, negotiation, teamwork, and resolution-writing. NoviceNations includes committees at different levels, including opportunities for delegates ready for a faster-paced or more advanced challenge. We look forward to welcoming delegations to Oxford for NoviceNations 2027!
Confidence-building Workshops
Alongside committee sessions, NoviceNations includes practical workshops designed to help delegates feel prepared, confident, and ready to progress. These sessions focus on public speaking, debate, and MUN skills, from structuring speeches and responding to points of information to committee procedure, collaboration, and resolution-writing. The aim is to give students the tools they need to participate actively and develop from their current level.
The Location
NoviceNations 2027 will take place in person in the city of Oxford, with committee sessions held at an Oxford college and other conference activities taking place in inspiring historic venues across the city.

“Such an amazing experience! I would 100% recommend it to anyone even slightly considering diplomacy and politics.”
“The mix of heated debate, compromise, and working towards a draft resolution was great. It was also amazing to see how I and my fellow delegates developed throughout the three days.”
“Meeting new friends and gaining confidence was my favourite part. I genuinely loved it and hope to come back.”
“The conference did as promised. It provided an excellent introduction to MUN with schools from across the world and a genuine sense that everyone was there to help novices get better.”
“MUN really helped me develop my confidence in public speaking and my ability to think quickly in response to others. It was an amazing experience where I met so many different people, and I would love to go again!”
“It was excellent for getting more confident with public speaking, especially within conferences. You also make lifelong friends!”
“Over the three days I saw my students evolve from novice delegates, worried about saying the wrong thing, into confident delegates honing their skills in collaboration and conflict resolution.”
“NoviceNations is the opportunity of a lifetime, where you gain confidence and make friends from all over the world.”
“I really liked that this is a beginner version because it was my first time and I made a lot of mistakes, but no one judged me and everyone helped me get better.”
