NOVICENATIONS 2026

6-8 February

NoviceNations is OG’s beginner-focused conference, held every February in the city of Oxford. It introduces students to Model United Nations (MUN) in a supportive environment where delegates can build confidence, develop public speaking and debating skills, and explore international diplomacy.

Through beginner-friendly committees, workshops, and activities, delegates engage with global issues ranging from technological change and economic policy to human rights and gender equality. For those ready to take the next step, the conference also features one or two intermediate committees each year - often specialised or crisis-based - for a faster-paced challenge.

Above all, NoviceNations reflects our commitment to making MUN accessible to all, providing a welcoming space for students at the start of their MUN journey. We look forward to welcoming you to Oxford and seeing the debates unfold!

TALKS AND PANELS

Through our Admissions Panel, delegates can interact with students and ask them questions, learning more about the UK university application process. We also offer a variety of talks on debating, public speaking and MUN skills!

The LOCATION

NoviceNations 2026 takes place in-person at one of the University of Oxford’s colleges. Our Opening and Closing Ceremony, and the Delegate Social, will be held at historic venues in the city of Oxford. Please note that delegates and schools are responsible for sourcing their own flights and accommodation for the conference.

What our previous attendees had to say

NoviceNations is the opportunity of a lifetime - where you gain confidence but also make friends from all over the world.
— Student (2025)
The conference was great experience! It has helped mould me into a more confident person, who is less nervous when speaking in public or debating.
— Student (2025)
This conference is a fully supportive and friendly way of introducing students to Model United Nations. Over the three days I saw my students evolve from ‘novice’ delegates, worried about saying the wrong thing in the wrong way into confident delegates honing their skills in collaboration and conflict resolution, crafting working documents and delivering passionate, thoughtful speeches. We will be back next year!
— Faculty Advisor (2025)
NoviceNations was an incredible experience that boosted my public speaking skills and gave me the confidence to debate with new people. I loved every second of it and learnt so such.
— Student (2025)
I thoroughly enjoyed being able to practice my public speaking skills, especially as it was always such a rewarding feeling to know that my committee group would support me no matter what. Overall it was always such an inclusive environment and I learnt so much! Will definitely want to attend again.
— Student (2025)
It provided an excellent introduction to MUN with schools from across the world and genuine sense that everyone was there to help novices get better.
