DISEC, the Disarmament and International Security Committee (First Committee), sits at the heart of some of the most important questions in international diplomacy: how peace is preserved, how conflict is prevented, and how new threats should be governed. As one of the principal committees of the General Assembly, it considers disarmament, international security, and the principles that guide cooperation between states in maintaining global peace and stability.

For NoviceNations 2027, delegates will explore the growing use of artificial intelligence in conflict and the ways rapidly developing technologies are reshaping modern warfare. From autonomous weapons to AI-assisted military decision-making, the topic raises urgent questions about accountability, regulation, national security, and technological innovation. Delegates will be tasked with determining how the international community should respond to an emerging digital arms race before its consequences become increasingly difficult to control.

How big will this committee be? This will be a medium-sized committee.

Is this a single- or double-delegate committee? This is a double-delegate committee, so delegates will work in pairs to represent their assigned country or position together.

How much experience do I need to sign up for this committee? While delegates of all skill levels are welcome, this committee is particularly well suited to newer delegates. The double-delegate format allows less experienced or more nervous delegates to collaborate closely with a partner.
