Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space

The Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) explores how humanity engages with one of its most ambitious frontiers. Established to promote international cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes, COPUOS considers the legal, scientific, and political questions raised by an increasingly active space environment. As new technologies expand what is possible beyond Earth, the committee invites delegates to examine how innovation can be balanced with responsibility, cooperation, and long-term sustainability. In doing so, COPUOS offers a forum for considering how outer space, once imagined as the domain of the future, is already becoming a defining arena of international diplomacy.
