OXFORDMUN NOVICENATIONS

Our OxfordMUN NoviceNations conference is designed to give students an introduction to Model United Nations (MUN) and a space for beginner delegates to practice their skills. This conference happens every February in Oxford, and includes a wide array of committees, workshops and activities for those starting on their MUN journey.

What is Model United Nations (MUN)?

Model United Nations is a simulation of the United Nations and other international organisations. It aims to discuss important issues of our world in an organised forum. In MUN, students can learn about contemporary global challenges, practice public speaking, learn about diplomacy and debate a wide array of topics, from scientific development and the challenges of technological advancements to economic policy and gender equality.

Who should attend NoviceNations?

Our NoviceNations conference has been designed mainly as a beginner conference. If you have little or no experience in MUN, this conference aims to create a space for you to learn and develop your understanding of MUN and your public speaking and debating skills.

However, we also have one or two intermediate committees every year for delegates who might to challenge themselves with a more fast-paced committee. These committees are usually more specialised and/or a crisis committee.

What kind of workshops do we offer?

In our 2024 edition, we ran workshops on public speaking and debating skills, as well as our traditional Oxford admissions panel. It is our hope that we can offer even more opportunities to learn both ahead and during OxfordMUN NoviceNations 2025.
