Dear students,
We write to warmly invite you and your school to participate in the Oxford Global Summit for Young Leaders to be held at Byron College, Athens, Greece. OGSYL is a unique summit experience open to high school students who are ready to embark on the next major segment of their academic career.
OGSYL is an independently-run event founded in 2018 and is organised by a core team of Fellows from the University of Oxford. Our mission statement is simple. It’s hard these days for ambitious youth to find important challenges to work on, become passionate about, and dedicate themselves to. As such, we teach the skills, provide mentors and guidance, and create a collaborative environment to help young leaders tackle the pressing challenges of tomorrow.
The strength of our programme lies in its mentors and speakers, which comprise of professors and researchers from the University of Oxford along with specialists from industry, medicine, and business. Our collective experience covers both breadth and depth. Seminars are crafted around unique experiences and case studies, formatted to stimulate dialogue and immersion. The world is too big for traditional classrooms and textbooks; we teach design thinking for creative and practical real-world problem solving.
The theme for this year’s summits are, The ‘eureka moment’: can we create it on purpose? Our speakers and instructors will lead their discourses around a theme of creativity and the methods and processes of innovative thinking.
OGSYL is held twice each year, in winter and summer. This year’s summer conference will take place in collaboration with Byron College, the British International School in Athens, Greece on 1–5 July 2019. Please continue reading for information about the venue, the speakers and summit fees. We very much hope that you will join us in July!
